I'm very interested in this upcoming election considering it has the power to tip the future of America in either direction. There is always debate in my family about the candidates, but I'd rather form my own opinion. Does anyone know where to get unbiased POLITICAL information about the candidates?

Project Vote Smart is where I am doing research at and finding out what special interest groups have given the candidates the highest and lowest ratings for their support. For example:

2006 Representative Paul supported the interests of the NARAL Pro-Choice America 65 percent in 2006.
2006 Representative Paul supported the interests of the Planned Parenthood 20 percent in 2006.
2005-2006 Representative Paul supported the interests of the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association 63 percent in 2005-2006.
2005-2006 Representative Paul supported the interests of the National Right to Life Committee 56 percent in 2005-2006.

How can a person support both Right to Life causes and Pro Choice causes at the same time?

Another site (can be accessed from Vote Smart too) is Open Secrets.

The candadates own web sites are the MOST biased of all. You can check their actual votong records at votesmart.

I don't think there is a source for unbiased information. I try to focus on what the candidates themselves are saying, especially on their official web sites. One site I've find useful is the following.

When a candidate has been in office, it's important to get a feel for their voting record since many seem to say one thing and do another.

Also, consider ignoring the polls and vote for someone who appears to value principles that most closely match your own. Otherwise, you're allowing a candidate's money to determine his electability.

For example, one of the key reasons I support Ron Paul 100% is that he seems to understand the principles of the Constitution and during his 10 terms in Congress has never voted for legislation that violates it. They call him, "Dr. No" on the Hill.

Nowhere honey. There's always going to be some kind of bias. Even by omitting some candidates, that's a bias. There are a couple of great candidates (such as the governor of New Mexico) but nobody mentions them.

It will be hard. Factcheck.org discusses the political ads, and it looks for inaccuracies in those ads. I don't know of a website that is completely objective. Much of what I have to do is distrust most articles and ask if there is a hidden agenda.

One thing to consider is that despite claims that there is a liberal media. It is not true. There is a mix of political views represented in media outlets.

There is no such thing as unbiased. People write things and put thing up on websites based on their personal or official views.

Go to a candidates's websites, and get details, and then compare them. Google commentaries, and then make up your own mind.

there is no such thing available that is completely reliable. you must read and listen to all that is available and form your own opinion. dont rely on what someone else says because they are probably are prejudiced. politicians are not noted for truth so dont beleive all their promises. these people will tell you anything to get your vote.
