i once saw a black and white movie about a couple who adopted a baby girl and lost her i think they get her?

inbetween scenes you see a record player i think they end up with the little girl in the end i believe the child was 1 or so when the government to her away maybe two or so when they got her back.

I believe deb is correct. The movie was shown recently on TCM-TV on a day that featured Cary Grant movies.
