1. structured removal from undesirable behavior (For example, if one is a habitual user of opiates such as heroin there is much more to withdrawal than simply not injecting the drug: Alternative medication and care may be necessary to permit a safe withdrawal.)

2. education in avoiding undesirable behavior and staying away from places and people who enable that behavior (When one stops smoking Crack it is wise to stay away from friends who still smoke it and to never go into crack houses and other places where one can acquire the drug.)

Rehabilitation provides a good environment where addicts have people around them to support them and stop them from continually abusing drugs, other people, animals, etc. At rehab clinics, there are certified doctors available to provide drug-emulating prescriptions to ween a person off of drugs like Marijuana, cocaine, etc.

In this way people get reinforcement and support to stop their bad habits.

well i guess it lets them relax a bit and help them get back to a pretty normal routine and people that thought they should go to rehabilitation will now think better off them than before
