I know that the creation of the Euro and other planned multinational currencies could be getting in the way of having a single world monetary unit, but I just think it would be so much easier if we didn't have to deal with exchange rates and all that other stuff that comes with each nation having it's own form of money.

Ah, what an interesting question? Your question needs world wise debate. If there could be Euro dollar, why cannot be a Comman Dollar. All the Central Banks of the World must think over the matter and formulate ways and means for some common currency. It is a good question. In the same way is it not possible that there should be common religion, common language so that this world could be a better place to live.

If one world currency existed, no one would have the advantage of buying power. Buying power currently occurs when a country's money is worth more than another country's. When trading occurs, the stronger dollar prevails and that country is able to get a better deal on goods. In other words, no more savings on traded goods, as the dollar would be equal.

Only if the Powers That Be have their way and succeed in establishing a World Government - (Probably a socialist one that is under their own control) - not something that would be beneficial to the People, especially in Western developed countries.

Technically we do already. Most international trade is done in US dollars and is transfered between parties by electronic means. If you use a credit card at home or over seas you are part of this money transfer.

Never ...I hope....Leave all this nonsense where it is. Countries have their own Currency, and that is how it should be, as the very nature of trying to covert, to one would be like a red rag to a bull. It will never come in my lifetime or yours so if I were you ....forget it.

ok, this will NEVER happen. It would NOT make any sense and could never work. I don't think you understand anything about how the world works (financially). Don't you understand that the whole concept of money works on comparing one curency to another? you are a pea-brain. i can't explain the world do you. Do some research!

When the only currency is gold.
The way it should be.
Sooner or later currencies that are not backed by gold will devalue just as the U.S. Dollar is now losing value.
Paper is worthless.
