people constantly complain, yet we discriminate. we all do. whether its against humans, insects, or animals. eating animals is a form of discrimination called speciesism. point in take, in not seeing people for who they are, what they are, and seeing them for their flaws, issues, and insecurities, we are putting ourselves out there for failure, wars, murder, rapes, genoicide, etc. throughout history it has been this way. you go out there, and you separate yourself from others, and in doing so, you are harming more than helping. you look at a person, notice their differences and treat them differently. in doing so, you hurt all living organisms. we all have a connection to nature, if you believe it or not!!! why don't people see, in separating yourself from nature, you separate yourself for life and your own existence???

Too many people believe that humans are special. They believe in something called sanctity of human life. This is a religious concept that has given people an excuse to commit some of the greatest atrocities known to humankind against their own species as well as other species. As Christopher Hitchens says, "Religion Poisons Everything." We are just animals that are too intelligent for our own good and I believe we will eventually destroy ourselves. We seem to be killing the planet that supports our lives. However, I think the planet will win. The planet will recover after we have become extinct. Good for Mother Nature. Power and greed by the minority is going to kill us all and the majority need to wake up to this fact before it's too late or we will have nobody to blame but ourselves. A good book that discusses specieism is called "Animal Liberation" by Peter Singer. I am not a vegan, but I suspect that if more people were aware of how cruelly we treat the animals we eat, there might be a lot more vegans. Animal farming is unethical and a disgrace to the human race. It is also a major contributor to global warming. The further we stray from nature, the more problems we create for ourselves. It sometimes seems like for every new solution to an old problem we just acquire two new problems. Getting back to nature and the simple things in life seems like good advice to me.

Humans are animals. Humans kill because they are animals, and animals kill. That is "nature" right there.

Unlike most other animals, we have the capability to identify past our animal nature. We are still animals, but we can become more.

That separating instinct is intrinsic to our nature - there is a biological advantage to being able to think abstractly, to separate and quantize (horticulture, husbandry, etc). This is a double edged sword, of course - the same tool that we use to an advantage when we separate the undesirable weeds from the staple crop is the same tool that pits this family against that, this skin color against the other.

Should we throw that tool away, though? Should I not treat you differently than my girlfriend? The ability to differentiate and to separate has a distinct advantage - perhaps we should just know when to use it and when not to.

It's not that I disagree with you entirely. I would die inside, a little, if I never could sleep under the stars ever again, or climb a tree, or go float down a river in an inner tube. But some separation is okay - I like having a roof over my head, especiallly this time of year!

BTW Steak rules. Especially with some onions, garlic, and maybe some mushrooms on the side. Mmmmm. Being an animal never tasted quite so good....

A long time ago I thought that love was something that you reserved for some special set of people that you had judged worthy of it.

After a while I got to thinking about what Jesus had said about turning the other cheek and loving our neighbor I put the two together and realized that he had made no exceptions in these statements. It became obvious to me that he intended that we exclude no one from the love that we are supposed to be giving. I started thinking about my idea of love and suddenly realized that I had not been loving anyone at all. I had simply been judging everyone and every thing.

Judging someone worthy of love is not love, it is only judgment. I actually started to cry when I realized this. I saw just how much of my life I had wasted being judgmental, thinking of myself as a Christian, when I was actually doing just the opposite of what Jesus had asked us to do.

I thought about the verse judge not lest ye be judged, and I understood it for the first time.

I realized that I have a lot of catching up to do. So many opportunities were wasted. I now try to apply the love that I have for the world in a universal way like Jesus asks us to do.

If I start to feel afraid and think that I see someone that I should not love because of something I have thought or heard I try to catch my mistake as soon as possible. I tell myself that I have forgot the truth and have fallen for the same old trick that had cost me so many opportunities to be loving in the past. The horror of this realization is often all that is necessary to bring me back to my senses and make me drop the judgmental nonsense I was thinking.

I still have a lot to learn about love, but at least I’m making progress.

Love and blessings

Our own existence is based on nature regardless of what we do. Only the strongest survive in the wild. Humans are agressive. We despise the weak and fear becoming that ourselves.

The ability to truly seperate ourselves from nature is when man will prove its readiness to advance as a race. To be more than what we are.

Our own existence revolves around nature. We are what we are. It consumes us, controls us and ensures that the human race will remain nothing more that gutter trash - full of false beliefs and bogus rituals. We are kings of the jungle, but no better than the lowest form of life which digs into the earth. Trash will always be trash.

Nature can be terrifying as well. By separating themselves from nature, we can protect the lives of our loved ones and our own existence.

Still, other living beings do have a right to life, including animals. And the problem of group identity and the "us vs. them" mentality is very serious.

There's really only one answer to your question such as it is: ignorance. It plagues us all and it is very adaptive. Only by actively taking steps to extirpate our ignorance, will we begin to see things as they are and not through the lens of our selfish biases.

This is a loaded question. You are asking people why others dont see the world as you see it. In doing that are you not seperating yourself from people who are different from you? I am not trying to be flippant but by wording the question this way you are only trying to seek out others who have the same opinion and viewpoint as yourself. Wouldnt it be benificial to ask others why they may feel differently than you and see thier perspective instead of seeking confirmation of your own ideas?

I think people tend to separate their own special conciousness from the soggy grey brain its housed in and indeed all of the natural world. They don't think of themselves as part of the food chain or as animals.

What is nature? or What do you understand by nature? In some way it is impossible to separate from nature in another we have never been into it. Is not "nature" the most cultural concept? Reading your question I would be on the adfirmative.

Animals kill each other in nature. Nature is the most ruthless killer I know.
