For example: the Patriots/Giants game. This is a very exclusive channel that many people do not have access to. Is this fair???

Good point about espn, but the NFL network is worse. and since when can channels "demand" to be included in a regular package? and some people really can't afford the extra $10-$20 a month on top of the $60-$90 they already pay. since when is AMERICAN FOOTBALL an elitist sport?!?!?!?

mikemartin48: a minority of people have dishes. this package is $20 extra in my area. i can't get a dish because I rent. And when you're a Pats fan, you enjoy the blowouts and the close ones equally!

You must be a member of the latest pussified generation. All this talk of fair. Many of you kids are in for a rude awakening if you think the world is fair. This is business. The NFL is not about football, it's about the owners making millions of dollars. Jerry Jones and all the owners don't give a damn about fairness to the fans.

I do not understand why they wouldn't want as many people watching football as possible. You would think the advertisers would shy away from "exclusive" channels. I suppose this is why NFL is lobbying so hard to put on basic cable.
I think it's just a big pissing contest between Cable and the NFL. They're fighting over who will get the revenue from broadcasting football.
It is a good time to own a sports bar right now.

Yes its fair! Everyone gripes about the NFL network, but think about this....Its all NFL all the time! You get to see all of the draft workouts, the draft, the fast forward games.....blah blah blah. The NFL network is great, I remember wishing for such a thing before it came out. I dont know what the big deal is! Upgrade your cable package, drop the extra $10 a month for the NFL Network and 15 other channels, and get over it.

Tell me how this is an 'Exclusive' channel. I had it on Dish Network and when I switched to Directv in Sept, I still get it. Haven't seen anything saying it costs extra to get it. All I've been hearing is people bitching about it. Well if you have rabbit ears you probably don't get it.
You don't have sports bars where you live? Besides who cares about the Patriots playing the Giants backups anyway? The Giants may as well forfeit this one.

The NFL community is likewise exhibiting the Patriots-Giants pastime on the tip of the 300 and sixty 5 days, so if the Pats are 15-0, maximum of u . s . a . of america won't get to work out them choose for the undefeated season. that is absurd to ask followers to alter their cable or satellite tv for pc organisation in basic terms to observe a pair solid video games a 300 and sixty 5 days. a minimum of make the video games obtainable on a pay-consistent with-pastime foundation.

No it's not fair at all, but after all, this is about the money. Anyone who thinks the NFL owners or the cable companies prioritize football fans over their profits is being naive. this is classic corporate greed, but it's reality.
you know, the only time I wanted John Kerry (who is pushing the NFL to broadcast to all of Massachusetts) to get his way more is when he was running against Bush for president.
and as for the NFL network being "worth it", that's probably true for a small group of hard core fans, but for most people it's not.

Get a grip.. NFL will be a pay for network in the next 10-15 years.
They have the pulse of the public and can make far more money on subscription TV.
It will happen.... believe me.

The NFL wants its network to be included in the basic cable service, but the service providers do not.
