I'm doing a project on polynomials, and the polynomial i was assigned is
f(x)= -4.5x-.5x^3+x^4-6x^2
What would this polynomial be when factored?

First arrange the terms in their proper order, from greatest to least degree:

f(x) = x^4 - 0.5x^3 - 6x^2 - 4.5x

Now, notice that you can factor 0.5x out of each term:

f(x) = (0.5 x)(2x^3 - x² - 12x - 9).

The polynomial on the right above seems to be unfactorable, so this should be its final form.
