No, they only do that if the baby was gay. However, they'd most likely support killing the mother. The other poster is correct with modern medications and technology there is little chance of transferring the infection to the child--there is still a chance though.

I'm neutral on the subject, but I would have to say that if I was pro-life, I probably would not agree that abortion should be OK if a fetus test positive for HIV. We don't kill people that have been born for testing positive, and with the advancements in research, HIV is not as deadly as it once was. People with HIV do live productive lives for a long, long time now.
Also, how do you know that in a few years there will not be cure for HIV? You can't say there will be and you can't say there won't be, but doesn't an unborn child deserve the chance to find out?
But, when it comes right down to it, that is a decision that the mother of the fetus will have to make. Until the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, or a Constitutional Amendment is passed banning abortions, a woman has the right to abort her pregnancy for any reason she wants. If she does not feel it is best to bring an HIV positive child into the world, she can have an abortion.

Wow, you have gotten many good answers.
I put some thought into this before I decided to answer and I have done some deep soul searching so that I was not just spewing nothingness from my mouth.
I am pro life. I don't believe that there is ever a time in which it is okay to have an abortion. If there are genetic defects, if the life of the mother is at stake, if the child would be born with downs syndrome, if the fetus is malformed - none of these are valid excuses for having an abortion. God does not make mistakes.
I have a nephew with downs. He is a fantastic nephew. He would be a fantastic nephew with or without having downs syndrome. He is 25 now and he has certainly helped our family grow together in wisdom and togetherness. I don't think that I would trade him or any of the experiences that we have had because of him for anything.
If a fetus tests positive for HIV, that is no valid excuse for an abortion either. Would it be okay to murder a child of three who had HIV? Would it be okay to murder an 18 year old who had HIV? No, it should never be legal for abortion.

I'm not sure that you entirely understand what it means to be pro-life. Most pro-lifers believe that life begins at conception, therefore they believe that aborting a fetus is morally equivalent to murdering a baby. Few would argue that it's acceptable to murder an HIV positive baby, so few pro-lifers would agree that it's acceptable to abort an HIV positive fetus.
Though some people who consider themselves pro-life do think abortion is ok in the case of rape, incest, or genetic disorder, so I'm sure that some would also think it's ok to abort an HIV-positive fetus. This position has always seemed rather inconsistent to me, however.
But there really is no need for most children with HIV positive mothers to be born with HIV. Women can take a medication prevents HIV from transferring most of the time. Also, a lot of babies with HIV were infected during childbirth or from breast milk, though they didn't have it in the womb.

Would it be right to kill a newborn baby if she tests positive for HIV?
The point at which the fetus becomes a human is the point at which abortion becomes murder.
Some believe that is at conception. I don't agree, but at least I understand their perspective.

As a Pro-Life liberal leaning centerist Democrat I say no. There is no reason to abort a fetus.

Just as legal as it should be to kill anybody who is HIV positive. Actually, it would make more sense to kill an adult who was HIV positive. At least that would keep them from spreading it.

Hmmm . . . maybe the standard should be the same as for those already born.
AIDS patients are not executed, nor should they be.
