I have Final Fantasy VII and VIII, and I'm looking for a good game to spend some time with.

I think you'd enjoy Final Fantasy X and XII, since you are a fan of the series. FFX has a great epic storyline, and FFXII has addictive gameplay.
Dragon Quest VIII would also be a good choice, it is a traditional turn-based RPG.
If you also enjoy action (or real-time) RPGs, check out Dark Cloud 2 and Star Ocean - Till the End of Time.

Don't listen to these guys.
Find a game that's not too addictive like World of warcraft.
World in Conflict, Rome total war and age of empires are not too addictive RPG games.
Wait...... RPG isn't the same as MMORPG because warcraft is mmorpg. He's only asking for RPG games.

i assume you are asking about ps2 titles.
disgaea is a strat-rpg (think final fantasy tactics) that is awesome.
dragon quest VIII is also on ps2, and as much as i'm a final fantasy fan.. dragon quest is better. plus, the monsters are more fun - who can deny a smiling pile of blue goo?! slime FTW
ogre battle is on regular playstation - while the graphics look pre-snes, it's still a great war strategy tactics game
rogue galaxy on ps2 is also decent - and it's super cheap at sears if they have it (like 12 bucks brand new vs everywhere else it's like thirty bucks)

I recommend you Kingdom Hearts1&2,Valkyrie Profile1&2 and other Final Fantasy.They are all from Square Enix. Most of the RPG from Square Enix are great.

the kingdom hearts series rocks! get those! kingdom hearts 1&2 are for ps2 and kingdom hearts chain of memories is for gba.
