Santa Claus outraged by 'ho ho ho' ban

Santas across Sydney are rebelling against attempts to ban their traditional greeting of "ho, ho, ho" in favour of "ha, ha, ha".

Recruitment firm Westaff - which supplies hundreds of Santas across the country - has told its trainees that the "ho ho ho" phrase could frighten children and could even be derogatory to women.

Thanks for the snopes article, but the recruitment company DID tell Santas to say 'Ha, Ha, Ha' because it was less likely to frighten children than 'Ho, Ho, Ho!' What the company said and what the employees said is contradictory.

I think ho, ho, ho is fine. The only thing that should be banned is political correctness!

Several years ago I attended Santa school to be a store Santa. One of the things they cautioned us not to do was the ho ho ho thing because it scared little children. Perhaps the reason is different down under but it may not be such a bad thing after all.

The idea of Sydney removing "ho ho ho" because of offense to women is an urban legend.

That's the point--they did not change it because of prospective offense to women. It was to make the kids feel at ease. It was no big deal, and no Santas were "banned" from saying "ho ho ho." It's right there in plain print.

I think I struck a nerve there!!!!

Oh whatever next, it never gave me a fright when I was young. It beggars belief what sayings come out of peoples mouths. It will come to the point when we cannot open our mouths in case we utter a wrong word. We are all getting mindless idiots , especially if we listen to half of what other people say or do...Go get a life, possibly on another Planet, if you do not like what we say on this one.

Someone always will find something to complain about. Ho Ho Ho has never been offensive.

Proof positive of the what happens when the gov't gets too involved in people's lives. Outlawing what private citizens can and can't say.
If you are looking to be offended you are going to be. Why take something innocent and cheery and turn it into a negative? If that ever happens in this country, we ought to riot!
