Daughter just got a wii, is there a proper way to remove a game disc after she's done playing the game?

Must we power off the unit first, then eject the disc? Or is there a way to go back to the wii menu and remove the disc without powering off the system?

We presses eject button during game play but a message shows up to reinsert the disc to continue, so that's not the right way to remove the disc right?

You have to exit the game first. If you press the home button in the middle of the Wii remote (thats the one with the picture of the house if you are new to Wii) a menu will pop up and it will ask you if you want to return to the main screen. Select yes. Then it will take you to the main screen. Once you are at the main screen, you may safely remove the game disc. Just push the little eject button at the bottom of the Wii.

It is very important that you are the main screen before you remove a disc because it can cause your Wii to lock up, it's like removing a cd-rom on a computer in the middle of a program.

I hope this helps. And congrats on getting a Wii.

Press the home button on the Wii remote. (the one in the center that looks like a house)

A menu should come up, select return to Wii Menu.

Once your back at the main menu/channel select screen press the eject button on the system.

Although you can also just power down the system and press eject.

(Note: You have to power the system down and press eject to remove Nintendo gamecube games, as the Wii menu function does not work while Nintendo gamecube games are being played.)

Hope this helps!

It will tell you to put the disc back in if you try to eject the disc while the game itself is still performing some sort of function. If you're done playing a game and want to switch without powering down the system hit the little blue house icon on your WiiMote which will bring you back to the main Wii menu and then it should let you eject the game and insert a new one with no problems. It will take a couple of seconds to load the new game but that's it.

On mine, I just press the reset button which is under the power button and then I press the eject button while it's loading up again. It just goes straight back to the wii menu without a hassle.

after saving, hit the "home" button on the wiimote (looks like a house) and click on "back to wiimenu". This would be the best time to eject.
