I think it's instinct to want to take care of babies. I do not think it's instinct that we think they are cute. Not all babies I've seen are cute but we still want to hug them and take care of them!

Evolutionary psychologists think so. Even other baby mammals are "cute". Therefore we are programmed to like the "pug" nose, the large eyes, and so on. And yes this is so that we will take care of them. Just think, human babies in particular have no ability to take care of themselves. If they want to be picked up and cared for, they have 2 choices-cry or be cute. Crying takes a lot of energy (calories). Smiling is easier.

No, i don't think it's instinct that we think babies are cute because i hate babies, not everyone likes them. Doesn't mean they are a bad person.

I think it's a survival thing. We're built to think that babies are cute, since they're helpless. If we didn't find them cute and sympathize with them and feel the urge to take care of them, there'd be alot of babies not being taken care of.

Nope. its not instinct but its how we see the babies. it also depends on the person's definition of "cute". some finds all babies cute because of their size and innocence. others find not all babies are cute because of their appearance. and still, there are those who think babies are cute if these babies respond to them.

I think it is instinct to protect a child. If I see a child that is dirty and uncared for I want to take them and take care of them...but I don't think it is instinct to think they are cute.

The babies are cute. Now what is cute?? Different people have different definitions of cuteness.

The actual cute ness I believe in is that the babies have no egos unlike we adults, they have no racial descriminations again like we adults, in short, babies are the rightly cute.

All babies are cute accordingly.

I've seen pretty ugly babie's before. My son is adorable, but I don't hug him, or take care of him because he is a beautiful baby. I take care of him because I love him very much and he can't do it him self.

Yes but remember the Seinfeld at the Hamptons with the ugly baby. That was a funny comment on society

I don't feel that its instincts on our part. Its that babies are cute and adorable. You want to hold them and squeeze them (gingerly). LOL.
