I do it a different way. I sync everything onto my ipod, then I go on the ipod and find the first thing I want on the list. I hold the play button until it blinks twice, then find the next thing, hold the play button til it blinks twice, til I get everything I want onto that list. Then I go back thru the menu to "playlists", find the playlist I just made, scroll all the way to the bottom where it says "save playlist", and save it. Then I make another playlist with other stuff. The next time I plug the ipod into the computer, the playlists will show up and I can name them, add to them, or whatever.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
1.) Check to see that your ipod is added to your itunes and that you are able to see it on your left navigation.
2.)Top left of your itunes - go to File > New Play List. It will be added as "New Playlist" under your ipod.
3.) Right click to rename New Playlist.
4.) Go to your library folder.
5.) Select the songs by pressing CTRL button on your keyboard and using your mouse to select the songs.
6.) Once selected, drag and drop your songs to your playlist.
Note: You can delete a song from your playlist. It will not delete the song from the library.

I've tried to follow the above instructions, but the created playlist appears under my iTunes, not under the iPod. I don't understand why this isn't easier to do...

you can burn cd's. insert the cd into the mac or pc, it will show up in itunes asking if you want to burn. make sure its not too damaged or scratched because it won't sound well. then click burn disc or accept, it will start to burn. when you buy songs, just go to the music store find a song and click buy now. If you have shopping cart on, add to cart then click on your cart, then click buy now. in order to buy songs, you need to have a credit card put on itunes or you have gifts cards which you press the REDEEM button on the right side of the itunes store then place in the code.
