All three of these teams could finish 8-8 alongside contending teams Washington, Minnesota, and New Orleans. But they've already been eliminated. What SPECIFIC tiebreaker reasons have eliminated the Eagles, Lions, and Cardinals?

NFC record. The Eagles, Lions, and Cards have all lost 7 games in the conference. The Vikings, Redskins, and Saints all can finish no worse than 6 losses in the conference

When dealing with multiple teams in a wild-card tie-breaker, the first thing they do is eliminate the worst team within each division with an 8-8 record. Take the Eagles for example, they beat New Orleans and Minnesota but they lose in a 2-team tie breaker with Washington due to their conference record. The Eagles are automatically out of the running since they are the second best team in the NFC East with a 8-8 record. The best team from each division with an 8-8 record then get considered with further tie-breakers.

Wild Card (Three or More Teams)
*If two clubs remain tied after a third is eliminated during any step, the tie breaker reverts to step 1 of the two-team format.

Start by eliminating all but the highest ranked club in each division by using the divisional tiebreaker. After the field has been narrowed to no more than one team from each division, the following tiebreakers are used:
1. Head-to-Head
2. Conference Record
3. Common Games (minimum of four)
4. Strength of Victory
5. Strength of Schedule
6. Combined Ranking Among Conference Teams (points scored and points allowed)
7. Combined Ranking Among All Teams (points scored and points allowed)
8. Net Points (conference games)
9. Net Points (all games)
10. Net Touchdowns (all games)
11. Coin toss

the redskins beat all of them and the skins have a better conference record then all of them, thats why their eliminated. (Note- Philadelphia beat Washington but Washington also beat them so Philly doesn't have the tiebreaker)

because the eagles go every single year and never actually win a superbowl. they figured they wouldn't let the fans get their hopes up this year.
