No you can't. You cannot close out the end of the year before the end of the year.

No you cannot. Yout have to finish the year before you can report what you've earned this year. If you're thinking about the offers from the tax places (HR Block, Jackson Hewitt, etc) where all you need is your checkstub, all they do is calculate what they think your tax refund will be (since the YTD numbers on your checkstub are close to what will be on your W-2) and give you a high interest loan on that. After the New Year when you receive the actual W-2, you have to bring it in, then they file for real and give you the balance of your refund, minus the "loan" you got in December. Be careful with that, they don't actually file your taxes in December.

No, the IRS doesn't accept them by mail until Jan 1, or by efile until mid January. By waiting to efile, you'll get your refund sooner since efile refunds come much faster than mailed returns.

Also, you need to have your W-2 before you can file, and those are typically not out yet.

The IRS will process nothing prior to Jan 14th, and possibly later, due to last-minute tax code changes.

Unless you have all your ducks lined up it would be inadvisable to do so. No big rush anyway; due to passage of new laws the IRS has to reprogram their entire setup and won't be able to process returns until after first of February at best.

No. The tax laws just changed a few days ago. You need to wait for the new forms to be published.

You must wait until you receive your W2 and/or 1099 for the year. This won't be until sometime in January or February.

You can get them all filled out, but don't date anything until January 1, 2008. Don't postmark them before then either.
