I was never really good with skateboards so should I stick to skiing instead? Snowboarding looks awesome though.

I love snowboarding, and i cant skateboard to save my life. So try it! I've been skiing since i was 6 or 7, and I picked up snowboarding when I was 16... been snowboarding ever since (23)

My only advice is to keep with it and be patient. Its hard at first, but once you figure it out, its (cliche alert!!) like riding a bike.

Some people dont pick it up the first day (took me 3 days!), while others pick it up within a few hours (my boyfriend picked it up almost instantly). dont give up!

I sucked at skateboarding and ended up becoming a snowboarder. This is my 3rd year of doing it and low and behold, I was able to stay on my husband's long board while our husky was pulling us around town. It was actually fun. But I live in a ski town, so I can go ride a lot. If you are just going for a trip or can't get a lot of practice, I would do skiing since it is a lot easier to learn. Good luck. Either way, it all hella fun

You don't need to be a pro on a skateboard to have it help you learn snowboarding.

Basic snowboarding is actually harder to learn than basic skateboarding - but some of my best students have been skateboarders and they often pick up snowboarding very quickly. The balance and leaning side to side make it one of the closest things to snowboarding. Even kicking a skateboard is very similar to skating a snowboard. You will also already know which is your front foot.

Good Luck
