Actually the system is stored in non-volatile memory just like a usb memory stick. I have left them unplugged for months and on reconnection they just work. So unplug it and move it. It will work when reconnected.

I have the same router and also did not like the location, You will have to set the router all over again, It is easy the instructions will pop up and walk you through it. Be prepared to have to reboot it often. That is common with the Linksys router. If I can do this, anyone can.

No, as long as don't reset your router all your setting will be preserve. Make sure that the location that you move it to is free from obstruction and is in a high location (top of bookcase if possible).

Done it several times. As long as you do not hit the reset button on your wireless router, it will be fine and as long as you use the same type of hookup when you move (cable, telephone, dial-up). What I mean is not going from your cable box to a phone service....I had the same fear when I moved mine the first time......good luck...
