Reformat the stick

MAKE SURE YOU REFORMAT AS FAT 32 NOT NTFS EVEN WITH XP.

As formatting USB sticks as NTFS causes all kinds of problems.

I have an older computer that can't handle many read/writes to my flash drive all at once. Try copying the files in smaller chunks. If that doesn't work, you might try defragmenting the flash drive or reformatting it. (Make sure you copy off any files you want to save before formatting!) If none of those work, then there might be something physically wrong with it. Can you copy more than 50 mbs of other types of files? -yk

The 450MB is not really free space. This space is needed for the stick to work. You should really consider upgrading to at least a GB, especially if this is for a camera.

If you are running Windows 98SE, your maximum figures would be about right. You don't list your OS and so I can only guess.
