I figured it would go twelve rounds but I wasn't sure who to bet on this year.

Ironically, I was too busy celebrating Christmas to listen to conservatives tell me how much I hate it.

I think it's time Christmas gets put back into prospectus. It shouldn't be limited to the notion that it's a Christian holiday. I think in most people's mines, it has become much more than a single faith celebration, and rightly so.
It started out as a celebration of new life long before it became know as the celebration of the birth of a child believed to be the King of Peace.
The season has always been used as a celebration of new hope. Adding the celebration of new hope with the birth of the King of Peace makes Christmas time all the more special. Christians and people of all faiths around the world need to be reminded once a year that Christianity is based on the King of Peace, not the king of war.

Take your pick. The so called war on Christmas exists only in the minds of those who seem to claim there is such a thing. This appears to be something some ubercon prig brought up and it fizzled. Why, you ask? Because there is nothing to it.

When people are desparate because their side is bound to lose they often lower themselves to such measures as trying to discredit the other side, not by discussing real issues, but by making up ersatz issues, childish name calling, and personal attacks of those they oppose. This seems to be the situation here. The people where I live celebrated Christmas in all it's glory, Christian and non-Christian alike. Those who wanted to included Jesus in the celebration and those who did not want Him there excluded Him. The usual mix of commercial and religious celbrations, ceremonies, and customs continued as they usually do.

I would venture to say that the only people in my area who even thought of a war on Christmas were a bunch of angry, and sour ubercons and neocons. Everyone else was either unaware of this concept or didn't care.

There's a war on Christmas? Oh that's right, I haven't looked at Bill O'Reilly lately to see how the "war" is going. Too busy buying gifts, singing x-mas songs, drinking spiked eggnog, looking at all the over the top x-mas decorations, x-mas mass, etc, etc.
As soon as I finish off the x-mas Turkey tonight I'll turn to O'Reilly to see how Christmas turned out.

It's interesting, because the forces that are AGAINST Christmas don't exist, and yet, they won.

Why? Because the pro-Christmas, anti-SP (O'Really's shorthand for "Secular Progressive") crusaders LOST against a force that isn't even fighting against them.

Any time you get worked into a tizzy, and make someone like Bill O. your champion, giving him your time, energy and hard earned money - all in the name of a war and an enemy that doesn't actually exist, you have, by definition, lost, or, at least, you fit the definition of "loser."

The other side, even if they don't exist or aren't engaged in the fictitious contest, must be, by default, the winner.

And anyone who loses an contest where they are the only ones participating is also, by definition, a BIG loser.

This war has been raging for over 2000 years.

Are we kidding ourselves into thinking a bunch of yokels with opinions will change things.

The big corporations ALWAYS win the war on christmas! If you doubt this, check your credit card statement, and remember that even in heaven, your FICO score matters...

Oh, and have a merry christmas...

Bill O'Reilly.

He made millions off his make-believe War on Christmas and sales of his coffee mugs and T-shirts.

O'Reilly's fans lost.
