There are many websites that can help you through basic steps of crocheting.
Try this one www.learn-crochet-now.com
or www.hassdesign.com
You can also join the Yahoo group called Crochet:All Hooked on Crochet or Yarn Lover's Room. The people are very helpful there too.

Kacky has given you a good link. I would suggest you find someone who could give you a few pointers . It is easier if someone shows you how to hold the yarn and how to do turns. You should practice on a 6X6 square before trying a project. I have taught many people to crochet and it is very easy to learn. Making baby afghans is my favourite thing to crochet and I suggest you use varigated yarn rather than trying to change colours for your first project. Count every st on every row before going on to the next one because if you make a mistake ,it will throw the following rows out. Good luck!

I'd suggest you rely less on your spell-checker and really learn to spell. To learn crocheting, I'd recommend the www.lionbrand.com website. They have a good tutorial available free. Other yarn manufacturers' websites do, too, so you may want to check the label of the yarn you're using and see if there's a website listed. Red Heart is made by Coats and Clark, whose website is www.coatsandclark.com if that's what you're using.

This particular craft cannot be taught over the internet on Yahoo Answers...sorry. You can try looking up websites, but there is so much to this craft that it'll take pages and pages of instructions. Or find someone near you who can physically show you how it's done.

Buy yourself a learn-how-to book. It gives step by step directions and pictures. You can get them at any craft store or Wal-Mart.
