I doubt that anyone has a problem with you being a part of something. People don't like PETA because of their wacko totalitarian attitude. PETA doesn't care about animal cruelty. PETA is more interested in telling people how to live their lives while hiding behind "animal rights". PETA has never done anything that benefits any animals. You want to join an organization that actively helps animals, join the ASPCA or Greenpeace.

Personally I think that PETA is a little too extreme. While I believe that animals should be treated with a degree of compassion and respect, I'm not willing to go so far as to say that an animal should be treated exactly the same as a human being.

That being said, I don't think that your wasting your time. PETA has won some important victories for animal rights. While I don't share their philosophical views, I can't ignore that fact.

I love animals and have given money to several organizations and written letters when asked to on certain issues, but I don't like PETA. I think they're too radical. I don't like some of their methods.

The Humane Society of the United States and the World Society for the Protection of Animals are just two organizations that work for animals. There are also some shelters that do wonderful work, possibly in your own area.

As far as people saying you have too much time on your hands, what you do with your time, what causes you embrace, is none of their business. And loving animals doesn't mean you don't care about people - in fact, it means the opposite. Remember that they're entitled to their opinion, but you don't have to listen.

Don't like PETA because they have a remarkably narrow minded and not-based-in-reality viewpoint. They are largely 'whackos' who think with passion and not common sense or logic.

I don't support cruelty, but face it - if mankind chooses to kill off all of the nasty predators, then the animals that they used to feed on will outgrow their food supply and environment... if a wolf doesn't take deer from the herd, then cars will... or disease or starvation... so people like PETA trying to stop hunting are actually working to make more animals suffer and die -- killing some of the herd leaves more food for the rest instead of starving them all... Taking the old deer leaves more opportunity for younger deer to grow up...

PETA people broke in to a Mink farm in Canada and set the little critters free... where many of them suffered and died needlessly... they were charged and convicted of "animal cruelty". Justice is beautiful...

I'm fine with PETA people. Two of my close friends are PETA people and it doesn't bother me when they don't eat meat or start a discussion about how wrong it is to abuse animals. The only thing I get annoyed about is when they make me feel guilty for eating meat. I'm sorry to all PETA people but meat is too delicious to give up. And I really don't like eating a hamburger and having to listen to people tell me about factories with poor Mexican workers with the blood of cows up to their knees. Thanks, but no thanks.
Being with PETA, yeah its a good cause. And sure you'll want to give off some lectures and maybe your friends will be totally cool with that. Just never give us bloody stories about poor whining pigs or about turkeys being sexually molested by workers while we're chewing on a big, yummy piece of meat.

PETA is a criminal organisation run by a complete nutter. You can be kind to animals without joining PETA. Actually you would be kinder if you didn't they actually kill animals. They are against pets of all kind. Do some research first before you make a decision.

Sounds to me like you are going the way God would have you go. If people say that about you, don't pay any attention to them. I don't have your particular problem because I don't care what people think of me. Peta is a wonderful organization, that sometimes goes a little beyond what most people would do to get their point across.

I am a peta member and it is not very time consuming like any other organization you can CHOOSE to go to the events or you can just simply donate money and promote awarness through word of mouth.

I dont mind PETA, but i think that some of their members get out of hand. I prefer to donate to the local human society. Its nice that you are trying to do good things for animals...thanks for your contribution
