Ok, so me and my Fiance want to vaca in fla this coming summer. We went to Panama City Beach last year and had a great time, but want to vacation on the Atlantic Ocean side this year. We want a nice quiet vacation that isn't full of drunken teenagers. Also it would be nice if we didn't have to pay out the a$$. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

What about St. Augustine FL? About 30 minutes south of Jacksonville, it is the oldest city in the US and they have plenty of things to do and great beaches to relax on. We go here each year and just love it. There are wonderful places to stay from small B&B’s to large hotels and resorts. They have plenty of things to do, go see the Lighthouse, Alligator Farm, ride a trolley, take a ghost tour. There is also Castillo San De Marco which is one of the oldest forts in the US and a real site to see. There is also Fort Mantanza which comes with a free boat ride and a chance to see some great wildlife. Take a boat cruise and see some dolphins and other things, enjoy strolling St. George Street, still looks like a place out of the 1700’s. There are several great places to eat in St. Augustine. The Oasis has the Best Breakfast around, all the locals go there. There is Reef which has beautiful ocean views. Jax BBQ, Saltwater Cowboys, Mango Mango and of course Scarlet O’Hare’s are also local favorites. The beaches in St. Augustine are just beautiful, never crowded and always a good time. There are several hotels on A1A that have beach front views, of course there is plenty of public parking so it is never an issue to get to the beach, or just pay a small fee and you can drive and park on certain areas of the beach. If you want to go out at night there are several nice places to go listen to live music and a whole bunch of them have courtyards so you can enjoy the beautiful weather. There is plenty of shopping and a wonderful outlet mall there in case your Fiancé likes to shop and look for bargains. The great thing about St. Augustine is that you can go there on any budget; they also have this thing called the Big Fat Coupon Book! FREE get one sent to you or pick it at the hotel or visitors center. This thing saves you a ton of MONEY!!!! Everything you will ever want to do has a coupon. If you like to surf or want to learn how stop in the Pitt Surf Shop, they give lessons, rent boards and have some pretty cool stuff. You will be glad you stopped in. I think you would really like St. Augustine and you will never have any issues with rowdy spring breakers, they just don’t go there. Here are some websites about St. Augustine…..you can find some great hotel room rates right now…..

Not real famillar with the East coast of Florida. But other than the Emerald Coast(Panama City to Fort Walton) I would choose either Fort Lauderdale or Sanibel Island.

Destin, FL
Nice clean little beach. Not that much nite life but very realxing and lots of mall outlets. I went 2 yrs ago and there was a bunch of construction going on so Im sure there is more to do now. We rented a cottage for like $2400.00 for a whole week (14 people house) White sand and beautiful blue water!

Ft. Lauderdale. It's not the spring break place it once was. It's very nice and has great dining and night life for the late 20 somethings to the 40 somethings.
