I have a current acct. in a PSU [INDIAN] bank,i haven't maintened minium balance, can i claim remaining amt. ?

I left Rs. 1600 /-- in the current acct. held in bank of maharashtra some 3 yrs. back that time there was no rule regarding minimum balance requirement. Later a circular came stating that one required a minimum of Rs 5000 /- to operate a current acct. with the bank.since than i did not have any transaction or even correspondence with the bank. my question is if i asked the bank to close the acct. and refund the balance money what will they do??

They probably already closed the account! Best check with the branch where you held the acount and ask about the balance in it, you will need some ID proofs as well.
