Seems like there is no such thing; women always know a bunch of people.

I'm a loner, and I'm comfortable to be that way.

in specific cases loners come for the period of as mysterious. there is not lots to motivate romance in a guy who spends maximum evenings dressing a similar way as his friends and guffawing over a similar stupid jokes. If a guy is a loner by his very own decision (and not because of the fact he smells or is an ax murderer), it implies a variety of self-sufficiency and powerful point which could be beautiful.

I think that the total loner is a rare thing in women - social expectations are so different, and so many women have children, and keep the children when the relationship ends. I wonder if other answerers who are saying that they are loners are planning a life free of a partner and children.
I do not know a bunch of people, not in the socialising sense, but I would not describe myself as a loner because I have kids, and I know people around me with whom I have cordial relationships. I dislike socialising, but I do like being around like minded people. It's just that I don't meet such people very often. I have ended up being a bit of a misanthrope.
I don't think that most people are loners are that way through choice. The loner thing probably started at school due to various forms of ostracisation, and it just gets compounded throughout the years. I think it becomes worse for men than for women because men do not look after other men emotionally the way that women often do look after other women, particularly in the family.

Oh yes. One of my good friends from college is a loner and she can hibernate for weeks at a time.

I am Monday through Thursday. Only work, go to the gym and run errands those days. Weekends are a completely different story. It's possible, just unlikely.

Well, I know a "bunch of people", but I prefer my own company most of the time, and I've stayed single for a looong time since my last break-up! I suppose you could call me a bit of a loner. You can email me if you'd like....

Are you serious?

Of course there are - I'd say just as many females are loners as men.
I've always been a lone wolf type. I think thats a personality thing, not a gender thing.

I'm a woman and I'm a loner; nothing wrong with that. I actually prefer it this way; makes it easier to break away and contemplate without being pressured.
