I don't think that automatically makes Kobe MVP but wouldn't that be great! And Kobe will have alot of 50+ games. I hate how Nash keeps getting MVP when Kobe really deserves it!!

With very rare exceptions the MVP goes to the star of one of one of the top 3 or 4 teams, in other words one of the very top contenders for the crown, and more often than not the MVP plays in the championship series; so, no, 50+ and 4th or 5th in the west will not be enough to overtake someone like Garnett for example. However, if the Lakers can climb over Phoenix and Dallas and land in that 2 hole behind the Spurs he has a GREAT shot.
I'll guess two 50 point plus games.

Definitely not!Kobe will not get the MVP trophy.I'm a Laker fan I'm also a Kobe fan but getting a MVP trophy is quite very hard.I know Kobe has been the heart and soul of the Lakers but a heart need also some people to support him.Its not about how many points he give to the team but also important is how he makes other look so good in court.I think Kobe needs to be more team oriented rather that point oriented.

its overdue... he is very deserving of an mvp award... don't just look @ stats, they don't tell the entire story... Lebron is a stat filler, but on a mediocre team and a disgrace of a conference... Kobe has guys like Odom, Gasol & Bynum to crash the boards and often the Lakers are also a superior passing team to the cavs and will complete an extra pass that will lead to an open shot... the assists are spread very evenly around this team due to the triangle offence... where as Lebron will simply penetrate and kick and the guy will shoot straight away... thats why u should not base your comments on STATS because all in all they don't paint the entire picture of a player importance... without kobe lakers would not be in top spot in the west, possibly not even in the top 8... also i know they went 0-6 when lebron was out but who were they playing in those 6 games??

Kobe is good enough that he will be in the mix every year for MVP, and this year will be no different

no doubt, he should have been the MVP long time ago, he deserved it this year, but only if he can carry the lakers to a 50 games winning......

I hope he wins it, he truly deserves it. =) However I don't think he is going to have too many 50+ games this season.

no, Kobe is a ballhog. His team has a better record when he doesn't play than when he does play. How could he be an MVP?
