When the mountain casts a shadow, measure the horizontal shadow, and compare with a sticks shadow. If at about 3 O'clock or so the length of the stick, and its shadow are equal, then the shadow of the mountain and it height will also be equal. (They will always be in the same proportion.) Pressure in the pipe is about 1/2 pound per vertical foot. Remember that you need to count from the height of the standing water in the well, so theoretically, you measure from the pump in the well (supposing it is a submersible pump)

Go a known distance from the mountain. Take a board and mark angles on it. Attach a weight on the end of a piece of string to the corner where the angles meet. Point the edge of the board at the peak by sighting along it and make a note of the angle formed by the string. Draw a line representing the distance to the mountain, of a particular length, on a piece of paper, then another line at the angle you have just measured. The line forming a right angled triangle with these two will be proportional to the height of the mountain.

The height and distance should be surveyed (best option). If a topo map is available the height can be read by counting the contour intervals crossed.
A GPS can also be used.
To calculate the pump duty point the friction head must also be added.
For that you will require the flow, diameter and type of pipe and the total length.

The biggest mountain ever recorded above sea level is Everest, but maybe before then Maunaa Kea a Hawaiian Volcanic Island could have been bigger than Everest above sea level because Mauna Kea is 33,500 feet but it is below sea level , so Everest is taller at 29.028 feet , but if the sea was not there Mauna Kea would be taller, Did you know Mount Everest isnt actually 29.028 feet its actually 29.000 exact, but the guy who first climbed it an measured it didnt want people to think he didnt climb it an just estimated the height, so he added 28 feet onto it FACT !!!

Put in your pope then fill it with water and measure the pressure at the bottom in psi with a pressure gauge.
Take that number and divide it by .43 and that gives the height of the mountain.
