What a pity that all couples can't have both of these going for them, along with everything else that adds to a happy relationship. The more positive assets a relationship has, the better it will be, and the longer it will last. But if a partner just wants sex, or just a relationship, or just a companion, or just kids, or just security, or just money, then we all know where that relationship is going, don't we!

Physical attraction is the beginning of all great relationship. So in this case the sex is the chicken and the relationship is the egg.... Even if you are out to only have sex... if you do IT often you my friend are in the middle of a relationship because with frequent sex there is emotional bonding and there is the baseline of your relationship. And with a relationship even if the sex is taken out the friendship will keep the relationship together. So sex is the icing but the relationship is the cake.

Definately need both in order to have the relationship as a whole work. Without being able to bond with each other with sex, all the little petty crap will keep building up, until one day you realize that you are married to your roomate. Sex not only provides a release but also keeps both of you emotionally bonded.

If you are in this situation, good luck with it.

Relationship. Sex doesn't always have to be good. It's a great added bonus, but I need more. Hugging, Kissing, Romance. Having the same interests. Being able to laugh at each others jokes. Watching good programs that we both enjoy, Watching a good football game every Sunday.

A combination of things make a relationship work, and sex is part of that. Otherwise it is friendship and not a relationship.

A perfect balance between both.
Cos a relationship can't last for much time without sex.
I mean if you are a healthy young couple.
When you get older than the relationship is far more important.
