I know you need to use hot water. There is Hot/Cold, Cold/Hot, and Warm/Warm.

Or is just soaking the clothing with the hottest sink water good enough?

Then I dry the clothing at high heat right?

Usually, the clothing, like a tshirt, have a little label on with a pic of a washing machine and a degrees level, most clothes have 40 degrees C on, so in the washing you wash it at a higher temp then the one on. You could also try putting the clothing into the tumble drier for a high heat or really long time...it really depends on what you would like to shrink...hope this somewhat helps

It depends somewhat on the material you are trying to shrink. I would suggest the most extreme contrast in temperatures possible - wash hot, rinse ice cold, dry hot. Hope it shrinks to the size you want, but know that doing it this way is an inexact science at best. Might be better to have the article altered by a tailor or seamstress.

hot hot hot water... and hot hot hot dryer.. it actually depends on your dryer because all settings are diffrent, as well.. it depends on the material. If it is 100% cotten it will shrink about 15%, jeans shrink but then get bigger when you wear them, wool shrinks really fast. If your clothes have even 5% polyester they will not shrink at all!

Depends what material you wish to shrink. It is recommended that you wash nothing over 40 degrees to stop it shrinking. If it says do not tumble dry, that will also shrink it.
