1. Let the Asker rescind the 2 points of someone who does not answer the question. e.g. "IDK" or "Look it up" as some people are just here for the points.... as if this is some kind of contest.
2. If someone is going to issue a violation against someone else, make them cite WHY they are doing it. And "Revenge" or "I don't like them" doesn't count. Their morals seem to be a driving force, too. Theirs are not mine and if someone asks a question about SEX for example, I should not be issued a violation for my opinion.
3. People should only be allowed so many "Thumbs Down" in a day. And so many violations they can cite. That would curtail the Trolls a bit.
If I think some more, I'm sure I'll find more.

Sorry Rosanna, I just went through this with yahoo this morning after the violations of the last several days... And I am not meaning just Yahoos violations!
I did suggest that they keep track of who is doing the reporting, if their accounts are new or long standing accounts. And that perhaps someone should actually read the questions and answers before they are violated thus saving Yahoo time on having to review and reinstate folks points... and there are times when many peoples points were removed, not just the one posting the question! I don't feel that is fair to the answerer!
Good luck to you and yours! And, the powers that be!

roseann, I ain't quite senior. have about 5 years to reach 60? Don't have any "realistic solutions" but can see problems with Yahoo Answers. So much stupid stuff, your question is only out there for a few minutes? It then gets pushed to the back. If you get an answer you'd like to comment on, or clarify your opinion, or state how the respondent misinterpreted your question, you can't, unless you allow email and all that? Without opening yourself to your profile and email and all that, you have no follow up to any of your questions? I've recently gone from ATT dsl to Time Warner cable. I suspect I'll lose my Yahoo Answers account?? Hope that ain't so, but not sure. Still, it ain't a great loss, cause this Yahoo will never be a real place to resolve issues? Again, there's too much nonsense, and then again you can't follow up after a question?? In many respects it's just silly nonsense??
p.s. my mother has just gotten into her 90s. She has dementia and is in a "home". Her name is "RoseAnn". Merry Christmas just the same, RoseAnn.

I think that the violations are getting out of hand, as well as the thumbs down. I wish that YA would clarify their guidelines regarding chatting. To chat means to make talk, according to my old Webster dictionary. If that is the same definition that YA uses, this entire site is nothing but chatting. I don't let the thumbs bother me much since they really don't mean anything. There are some nasty people who like to do nothing more than cause trouble, and they will always be around.

Jack's (above me) observations are correct. Everyone that's answered this question is insightful.
I'd like to see accountability for trolls.
A foundational bit of information must be presented when setting up a yahoo account an Y/A (don't know what, perhaps contact info?)
If that person gets continous blatant violations the account will be closed.
Would that work?

Make everyone take a lie detector test, just kidding. There are always going to be problems with this many people on here worldwide. The report feature needs work to stop false reporting. And the Edit button if it is going to be considered chatting to add on why have it. Yes the asker may need to add details but it has become a way of arguing in the back pages that most people are unaware of. It goes on for days back there.

I don't think Yahoo will do anything. I think we can. If no one answered an obnoxious question, if no one ever mentioned trolls, reporting, or thumbs down, the people doing this would not get their kicks and would have to give up. They can't stand being ignored. I see this on other sites as well, it's not just Seniors. Why ask a question and try to hurt someone if no one answers? Why give thumbs down if no one cares. Why report when no one cares or mentions it. If your question is reported, wait a while, change the wording a bit, and post it again. Trolling and name calling is no fun if it's ignored.

Hey Roseann, I must be obtuse as I really don't see a problem with Y/A. As I see this forum:
1. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.
2. Opinions are like ***holes, everybody's got one.
3. This forum is free, what? you want perfect too?
4. The world is full of losers who attempt to suck you into their misery, why assist them?
Ok girlfriend, hope I didn't add to your angst, irritate or annoy.
PS........Did you know that Roseann Roseanadana was a real person? In the 70's, there was a TV anchor on Channel 7, ABC News out of New York, her name was Roseanne Scamerdella and she had a thick Brooklynese accent. Yeah, Gilda based her character on a real person.

I don't know if the site of YA has the problem, or whether we as the community have the problem.....I feel most, are here for the great questions and answers. I fear some, are here to be counter productive.....All the name calling, and accusations, and character attacks, are really our problem, not Yahoos. It can only be stopped by the community itself being mature, responsible, and caring....I personally am here, for the broad spectrum of experience, humor, and personality...And I hate to see this great site turned into a battlefield.......

Sweetie, I wish I knew. All the bickering and back biting has got to stop.
If everyone would just treat each other the way that you want to be treated, then every thing would be OK.
I am in far to much pain to play these head game. I simply refuse to be a pawn in the toque of war that appears to be going on in here.
I think I need to get to the ER
