Bleeding while taking the pill continuously?

I've just started taking Loestrin 30 (changed pill after a bad time on the other one). My Dr said I can take 2 packs together this month because I would have been due on, on Xmas Eve, something I didn't want as I have awful periods. Yesterday the day after I would have been due on if I hadn't started taking 2 packs of pills together I started a light period and am still bleeding light today (and slight cramping). I didn't think you were supposed to have any bleeding if you take 2 packs one after the other. I thought you just missed a period and your next one came with the next 7 days break. Is this normal or is the pill not the right one for me?

Breakthrough bleeding can be a common side effect of taking the pill continuously. This can occur because the body is trying to adjust to the changes going on as it is so used to having a period. When taking the pill continuously for medical issues it can take up to 6 months to fully adjust to the changes with the way the medication is taken.

I did this too when I was going on my honeymoon and didn't want to have my period and I had the same thing. It was like a light period for two days and then gone. The next time I had a normal period.
