No. I would be worried of hurting their trust. Hurt trust is harder to heal than hurt feelings over honesty. I can however, be compassionate with my honesty, as well as sensitive.

That depends on the someone and the lie.
I detest lying as a rule.
I detest lying to friends as a rule.
However, on a job, if my boss says don't tell so and so that they are being fired, I have to lie in that case or quit that job.
I don't like it but it is in the job description some times.
I think I would rather hurt someone's feeling if that is my choice because when they find out I lied it will only hurt their feelings again. Why delay the inevitable.

I would always want to tell the truth, but blunt honesty in certain situations is not always the right thing to do. I also feel if it involves two people that care alot about each other if at any point in time they found out the lie they would totally understand that you were only trying to protect them from hurt. Hopefully they would understand.

The statement I will make is "You may not like what I am going to say or even feel hurt, but this is the truth that will bring light into your life."
Conclusion: I will not tell a lie.

There is a third choice. The truth spoken with real love & concern for the person is what I usually end up doing. Of course I wait for the right time & place, as well as for my friend to be receptive. Most of the time, if I really am speaking out of love & concern & not self justified anger, my friend can see that concern & it makes them more receptive. I use this for all the big issues, if it is something petty, it will usually work itself out.
Blessings.

it depends.
normally, my automatic answer would be to tell the truth, and my automatic action would be to lie.
i guess i'd have to judge the situation first. would the truth benefit for the better of the person, despite the pain of the truth? would the lie in any way take away from that person? if i lied, and the person found out the real truth, by breaking the trust he/she had with me, would that cut the last thread?

Yes, but keep in mind that if you're caught lying you'll hurt a persons feelings a lot more than telling the truth upfront.

It depends on the lie.
"Does this make my butt look big."
yes - I would lie
"Do you think he is cheating on me?"
If I knew - I would tell.
That said, I wouldn't use the truth to hurt other people either.
There are times when silence truly is golden.
