Chav! You do have nothing better to do than stay up all night thinking of trippy questions! Go girl. If it's important to find the mailbox or the numbers on the house, then reducing intereference to other senses, like music, or breaking news on the radio...just makes sense. Men do this more than women. We're not good at multi-tasking. It's called a pattern of focus. And, likely, we have been trained by our parents to turn down the radio when something important is occuring, be it serious conversation or searching for where the party is.

You are driving AND looking for an address? AND turning down the radio at the same time?
I am so glad I am not in that car - I might live longer!

It is definitely a concentration thing. I also do it when backing out of a parking space or trying to pull into a tight space. If my son is in the car talking, and I'm in an unfamiliar place, I get lost. No joke. Took me 40 minutes to get back from a place thats 10 or 15 minutes from my house!

So you will concentrate more on finding the address while the radio is on the background. Tend to make you more focus on what you're doing.

Because I'm not a woman, therefore I can not multi-task like them....to listen to music, read directions and drive....

But women can't follow directions anyway...so, I guess they need to concentrate on the task at hand therefore also turn down the music.....

Probably for concentration. Why do I put my glasses on when I answer the phone?

I thought only I did this! I think it is just so you can concentrate on one thing without any interruption.

So you can concentrate and have all your focus on what you are searching for, and not have your mind wandering on the music.
