Yes, my father-in-law fell and broke his hip. It is very sad, because he was coming to spend Christmas with us. He had surgery and is okay, but will be in the hospital for awhile and then to a rehab center. I hope your friend is better soon.

Not during Christmas because we arranged for my father (he's got cancer) to be home during Christmas. After all its a family event to be shared at home with a Christmas tree. But even if he had to be in a hospital, we would have brought Christmas to him. I guess the important thing is less of where you have to be during Christmas but who you're with.

I'm sorry - but I bet you made their day - unless you brought them the doctor bill. No, really - I bet that was better than Santa going down the chimney for them! My dad was in there last year with pneumonia, and every smile I gave someone there felt better than eating fruitcake. I have a suggestion to cheer them - bring a portable DVD player with headphones and some of their favorite movies (to drown out the noise of the heart monitors.)

Well, we visited my Grandpa in the nursing home. He has multiple sclerosis.
