the cold, the mices are invading the building, creating a lot disturbance, dirty with they feaces but he doesn't want to kill or hurt the animals. Is there anything he can do to stop them come in the house?

get a bag of onions or what ever it takes and spread it all around the house when they bite into it they will slowly but surely start to move out of the house. By around O mean on all the bottoms of the walls. Next summer tell him to plant onions all around the exterior of the house that way the mice, rats, etc wont come inside the house.

Mice or rats? Its unusual to have both. Rat droppings are the size of cigarette butts.
Either way, they can both be dangerous. Both will gnaw through electric cables and potentially cause a fire
The health risks associated with rodents are usually overestimated but Weil's disease is very very nasty.
Although it goes against most animal lovers principles, extermination is almost certainly the only option

Rats and mice can enter home through openings as small as 1/4 inch wide.Doors and windows through which rats can enter the house should be closed at night. Material through which rodents cannot gnaw like concrete, sheet metal , crushed glass and steel wool should be used.

solid cat or traps.Farmers %. there corn interior the autumn,while the climate is getting chilly so the mice pass interior,thats once I get some in my living house,no thank you to maintain them out.yet I set traps,bait them with peanut butter and trap approximately 6 or so and that they are all long gone till the subsequent fall.

Mice and rats spread diseases, I would kill them all with mouse traps before they breed and running all over the place!
