Are the episodes of Astro Boy on Adult Swim that are in black and white made in 2007 as a gag or are they old?

The Astro Boy episodes shown on Adult Swim are from the original black and white version from 1965 (and the ones dubbed and distributed by NBC Films,the Peacock Network's original syndication unit).

Astro Boy was remade in color in the late Seventies and Adult Swim had in the past aired an updated version of the anime classic.

A bit slow-going by current standards,Osamu Tezuka's original version is still a good look into the earliest years of Japanese animation.

Most if not all astro boys are really old and from japan. They are a bit boring by todays standards, but it is interesting to see where the whole "super hero" idea in cartoons came from!
