I know the Libertarians claim to be fiscally conservative, and socially liberal, but is there a party thats opposite meaning they support higher taxes and government spending, but dont support abortion, gay marriage, etc. I was just going through my voters pamphlet on the primaries, reading about the different political parties, but could not find one that matches the description. This question is not a reflection on my political views at all, I was just wondering. Thanks.

I believe the following lnks will give you an idea as who comes closes to your ideals. However, there is much more than pamphlets to read to understand each partiy's agenda.

History and reasearch will give you a better understanding of the positions each side takes.

The Democratic party is both socially and fiscally liberal, and supports gay marriage, and abortion. They are in opposition of the death penalty. Their belief is in a big government and for the government to choose how a man lives his life through lifelong entitlements.

The Republican party is conservative socially and fiscally, does not support abortion, or gay marriage. Their belief is in a smaller government and letting a man choose how to live his life. However the conservative does believe in assisting the disabled, the elderly, and disadvantaged children, and a wlefare program should not be cyclic, but limited. The beliefs are that a man should be given initiatives to stand on his own two feet, an to get the education required for whatever his interests are for a vocation in life.

I really don't know of any other party that sees things the way you describe.

I think the Bush Republicans come close to fitting this bill. Fiscally liberal in the sense that they spend, spend, spend and rely on government borrowing to finance their wars and buoy the economy. Socially conservative in the sense that they oppose abortion and gay marriage.

The Republican party has proven to be the most fiscally liberal political party in American history. They have run up huge deficits with their welfare programs for the military and tax givaways for the rich while supporting other politically conservative economic policies to pay for it.

Yes, they are called the Democrats and Republicans. You could vote for any candidate and get a socially conservative and fiscally liberal president... except for Ron Paul.

Yes, that would be the Republican Party since the late 70's.

It also describes Mike Huckabee precisely.
Socially a Baptist Preacher.
Fiscally, he is not called Tax Hike Mike for no reason.
