i find both equally cheerful! (The 'upper case' does not necessarily surpass the 'lower case': constant use of the former may result in 'cramps'! -- check the 'caps lock'!)

It's the same, the only difference is whether the typist is lazy or not to reach for the shift key.
I would say LMAO is 'louder' than LOL.

Yes, unless it's consistently used and the person never uses the regular "lol". It takes the apparent IQ of the person in question down about 10 points every time it's used, though.

LOL = laugh out louder
