You owe your Dad and your Mom 49 pesos each or a total of 98 pesos

You have a T-shirt worth 97 pesos and a one peso coin or a total value of 98 pesos

So things are equal.

This statement is not valid " Here's d I.Q. test: P49.00 + P49.00 = P98.00 + P1.00 you have = P99.00. Di ba dapat P100.00, where's P1.00? "

As you still have P1.00, return P0.50 to each of your mom and dad. You had returned P3.00 and that leaves you with not a cent in your hand and owe no one. The total your mom and dad had spent is now P97.00 same as the price of the shirt. Better still, cut the shirt in two and that amounts to P48.50 per piece. Since you returned total of P3.00, that makes even now. The P1.00 is just a figment in mind.

jongbong is right...there's no missing peso...just a simple math trick. don't complicate the problem...you got P50 from dad + P50 from mom for a total of P100... less cost of t-shirt P97 leaving you P3 ...then you gave P1 each to mon and dad and the last P1 you kept. you see it's all accounted for!

50 + 50 = 100
100 - 97 = 3
3 - 2 = 1 .....and it's with you!!!

Yes, it's an "old" riddle with different versions but an interesting post nonetheless. Someone will eventually figure out the "right" explanation...I'd defer to the others.

There is no missing peso at all.

I borrowed 100, I owe 98. I have returned 2.

98 + 2 = 100.

I have P1 in my pocket (ie 98-97=P1).
