A British monarch knows more about Britain and it's people than nearly everyone, so she should have more interest than heaping religion onto us.

It is exactly what to expect from an aristocrat. "Religion is for you, life is for us."

Do all religions not say what she claimed
Religion is a very powerful influence on all of our lives even atheists. Politicians use it for their own ends but it can and should be used for good. Whilst I believe that Christianity is the only true faith. I accept that other faiths seek the truth and have a lot in common with Christianity. I could go further but let us acknowledge that

This is a Christmas message. A Christmas message by a Christian monarch which makes no reference to the reason for the celebration would be an empty one indeed. The Queen is broadcasting to the Commonwealth, not just to Britain, and is aware that many of her listeners will be followers of other faiths. They too would wish her to refer to Christmas, as they would refer to a great festival within their own faith, but there is also a wider message, which is one of common values and heritage. The Queen is an expert in this. She is also a very sincere Christian believer who holds the title of Defender of the Faith. In behaving consistently with her beliefs and her position, she is doing the right thing.

I personally loved the way that she missed out the fact that most religions condemn homosexuals to death, and won't allow equal rights for women. Oh I forgot, you're supposed to be stoned to death if you work on Sunday too.

What about what common sense tells us? And compassion? To be quite honest I couldn't give a toss what any religion says.

As an atheist, I was very amused by the queen's speech.

If you go wayyyy back, God fearing didn't start in the U.S.
Our history is nothing compared to England's. You don't think we'd elect an Atheist president, do you?
