should the giants play all starters no matter what to try to beat the PATS?

Why would the Giants owe the league anything, New England has played in 15 meaningful games this year, and not one opponent stepped up to beat them. The Giants have nothing to gain by playing all their starters against the Pats. In the end it's Coughlin's decision, but I would think he'd look at his roster and realize they don't have that great of shot with the players he has right now in the playoffs, and he would have absolutely no chance if one of his starters or "key" players got hurt in a meaningless game, to his team.

If I'm the Giants I try to make sure their sharp on the first series or so, get some points, maybe even a quick lead. Then pull the starters, plug in the backups. The confidence from a good series or two, against the best team in the league, would help carry some momentum over to the follow weeks playoff game.

They Giants don't owe the NFL anything, they only owe it to themselves to make sure they're as healthy as possible going into the playoffs.

They don't play dec 30, it's dec 29. The giants have had a real cake walk for their last 4 games, the teams they've beaten are 5 and 27. Lets see how the giants do against the cowboys, lions, vikings. By the time they play the pats, they could be eliminated. If the pats are 15-0, they'll rise to the occasion, and they're better than the giants.

Absolutely. There is no reason for them not to play all their starters at this point anyway, really. But definately against the Patriots. They may be winning games, but there are a few they didn't deserve. A few of their latest wins have really just been luck. But as flawless as they tend to be, their defense is not indestructible, and man even though their offense seems to be indomitable- it's boring! Tom Brady CAN be taken down. Their running game CAN be stopped. Their defense CAN be picked apart. It's all up to NYG to tear them apart and make them wish they hadn't pursued perfection in the first place. Any given day...

Eli Manning needs to step up and make game in the air. Big time. NE CB's are not THAT good. Go deep...one on one. Blitz Brady as often as possible, but mix it up. Do some unexpected safety blitzes, some LB Dog plays...I honestly don't know if New York has what it takes. But if they do, now would be the time to show it.

No. The giants should play smart football, rest the starter in the 2nd half, worry about the playoffs and maybe making it to SB and beating NE there.

To the league? No. To themselves? Yes!!! They need to go into the playoffs knowing they can put it on the line for 60 minutes, in all phases of the game. They've struggled to get where they are. They can't afford the luxury of going through a game at half-speed.
I honestly believe every player should take the field with the intent to win!! If they don't, they should'nt collect a paycheck!!

I wouldn't chance it. They have to stay healthy for the playoffs. I think they have the 5th seed locked up so there is nothing to play for. Personally I hope they play full tilt and kick the Pats butts. I am after all a frustrated Jet's fan!

As much as I want the Patriots to earn their perfect by playing against their starters, it's better if the Gaints rest their starters. Superbowl is their goal.

nope...15 other teams failed in the attempt to beat the patriots..it shouldnt be up to the giants who have the playoffs and the health of their team to worry about

They do not owe it to the league and it is really unfair to put that pressure on them...Nobody else could do it, why should they HAVE to.

NO, yet it would be in their best interest to not sit and be lame ducks, if anything they owe to the leauge to prove they are real contenders.
