I have the Moto Rizr with T-Mobile.. and I was wondering if there's an additional fee if you connect your phone to your computer with a USB cord. And then sync it so that you upload videos/music FROM your computer TO the phone. Is it free? I thought it was, because it's your own music/videos and you're not buying it. My dad says it costs. Help would be appreciated. :]

There is no cost to transfer files via USB cable, Bluetooth or Infra red.

Costs are only incurred (depending on your plan) if you send via MMS or email.

If your phone supports WIFI or you have a data plan upload the photos online like on Facebook and then download them from your laptop. Or buy a cheap mini-USB memory stick reader/hub that you connect to your laptop via USB which allows you to insert your card into the reader and transfer files. Most modern laptops and netbooks these days should come with bluetooth, it's much easier for mobile transferring.

The transfer from PC to phone via bluetooth or cable is FREE. However, the issue of copyright cost is not addressed. Your dad is right, when he says it costs when you factor in copyright protected files. This may be a GREY area regarding licences, transfer, ownership, etc. Hope this helps

It only cost if you do it "over the network". If you use Bluetooth, or USB, you are not using an cell providers network so there is no way they know about it, and can't charge you.

If you are able to connect your phone to your computer and put files on it from your computer it will not cost anything.
