1. wii points are how many points you have to purchase a games. $10.00=1,000 pts.
2. the shop channel allows access to the wii's latest software (normally free) and games from older consoles(normally need points).
3. News channel gives you access of the news articles from the AP around the world.
4. the internet keeps your wii updated with the weather and news, and you can play with other people around the world in certain games.

To get internet on the Wii, you will need to download the internet channel, which is the browser for you to use the internet. You will need to first go to the Wii Shop Channel and download the internet channel. From here you can also purchase games that you can download and store on your Wii.
To make any purchase such as games or the internet channel you will need a card called Wii points. Each game and software download will cost you points. You can buy a 2,000 points Wii card at best buy or circuit city for $19.99. The internet channel browser will cost you 500 points.
Before you download the internet channel, make sure you have a computer network setup. You will need a router, dsl or cable internet hooked to your computer. The Wii will pick up the Wi-Fi signal from your computer to connect to the internet wirelessly.
Once this is all set up, the new channel on the Wii will consist of top news and stories of the day around the world as well as the weather for your city and state.

Usually if you check with the instruction booklet it can answer most of your questions. To access the weather channel and shop channel you need the internet. You can connect to the internet through a wireless internet connection.

To get on the internet you need either
A wireless wi-fi adapter you can buy at wal-mart for $25, I did this and took it back because it was confusing
or on nintendo.com you can buy a "usb 2.0 lan adapter" which allows you to plug a ethernet cable into your wii, It comes with instructions and is very easy to use
