the women in the town go to the movies and they give away free dishes and there is a announcer guy . the family goes to the fair I think. This is making me nuts not figuring out this movie !!!! Can anyone help. I remember in the movie the family hides certain item because the tax collector comes to the door. thanks for any help you can give

...that was "It Runs in the Family", from 1994; along with the tax collector scene, which you spoke of, as well as actually seeing the hillbilly Bumpus family, this time, the film (...overall, pretty much recast) also depicts the SUMMER adventures of Ralphie, involving the quest for the best and toughest spinning toy top...presumably part of the summer's events, after the events in "A Christmas Story"...
...my favorite part in the film, a hilarious, gut-busting episode in the town's movie theater, involving Ralphie's mom, and a barrage of ill-gotten gravy boats...

my summer story or it runs in the family. The name was originally released as it runs in the family but later was known as my summer story.

hey i caught that by mistake one day. it just wasn't the same a s a christmas story maby it would've been better if it was the same cast. i still watched it though.
