Apartment blocks in london usually have a name. So it is more than likely a house.Although the house could be divided into apartments and are usually a,b,c etc.

Just did some research. Its a Delicatessen shop.

Apartment blocks don't have names, it's the council owned flats that have names. (Tenement blocks)

Mare street is in hackney as you probably already know, there are quite a few apartment & conversions along it, with the odd block of council flats on, and just off mare street.

Iv'e stated on here before, on more than one occassion, that: Flats = council or local authority owned, and rented out to council tenants.
Apartments = privately built or converted properties, sold or rented privately to individuals
Also, when a council property as been bought by the tennant of a flat, the estate agents marketing the property always use the more glamorous title "apartment" ( U.S term for flat )

Hackney is a horrible run down low life district of N.E, London and Mare St is one of it.s streets the hash sign indicates apartment number but the street name that is Mare should be prefixed by the street number to give full address.

It is an Indo/Chinese restaurant. They do have flats above, but I don't know if they are for rent.
