input not supported and yet you are able to play a game?

usually, the "input not supported" comes up when running the monitor above its maximum resolution and yoyu wouldnt see anything other than the message

if i were you, i wouldnt run my monitor other than its native resolution, the resolution it works best or it was designed for. it wouldnt screw up the monitor but picture quality would be crippled (especially for an LCD screen)

If it's an LCD monitor, you must use ONLY it's advertised "Native Resolution" and 60hz refresh rate. RTFM or look it up on the manufacturer's website.

That means "fixed, not variable" resolution like you could do on CRT monitors.

What would happen??? POOF!!!
