Besides the obvious.

For me it was having my oldest daughter here for christmas eve and christmas day. For reasons much too long and complicated to type here, she does not live with us. For the first time in a long time it was great to have the entire family here, together and knowing she was safe at least for the night.

Was there any one moment or event that made you smile just a little more this season?

I'm glad you got some quality family time...that's always special.

I was depressed over the Christmas Season, but I barely noticed because something really nice happened and it completely overshadowed my messed up brain.

This was my first Christmas, and it was also a first for my fiance because he was raised the same as me. Christmas Day is also his birthday and because of a series horrible things in his childhood, he hated December 25th with a passion. He could stand it - he dreaded it and it depressed him. It brought back such screwed up memories (abuse, his mother's death) he'd be on the verge of tears.

This year I wanted to change that. So I got us a tree and dropped hints about the presents I was going to get him. I got excited over it and gradually he did to. A few days before Christmas, I caught him staring at the tree with the presents beneath it and he was smiling - that made me so happy I could have cried.

Now that Christmas is over, he doesn't want me to take down the tree...he says I can leave it up all year lol. Last night after the clock hit midnight, I remarked that Christmas was over. He looked at me and said that it wasn't over until we wanted it to be over :)

I know that all may sound kind of lame, but this time of year was so horrible for him for so long and it feels so wonderful to know that it is now something he can enjoy and anticipate. It means he's taken one more step in healing the scars he's carried for so long.

That means more to me than any physical Christmas present ever could...

There's a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel yet...now if only I could take off the tunnel vision glasses....

I have been missing someone so much, and it's been tough. Now I think that even if he doesn't feel the same, it won't really be the end of the world.

Plus this is the first Christmas I spent with my daddy in years, and my mom who had abandoned me for 11 years is part of my life again. So there's a lot to be thankful for.

((((((My friends))))))

I was on my way to bring a few things for the next days meal. My thoughts were of family and love. The near full moon, in all its cool stillness was right there in the ice covered branches of trees. Warm inside, as watching that icy sight, all felt well in the world.

yes. When my son and husband combined my birthday and Yule Tide presents into one big donation to the Heifer Foundation International, and I got to give two goats, a pig, and some bees to some very needy and worthy recipients in Kenya, Ghana, and Southeast Asia. This put a smile on my face, a spring in my step and a wag in my tail!

Taking a walk on Christmas Eve under the full moon in the unseasonably warm air, seeing the neighbours barbecuing out in their yards. It lifted my spirits.
