Transparent is clear – like glass, you can see through it with no hassles.
Translucent allows light through it, but diffusely, you cannot see clear images through it – alabaster would be an example.

A window is transparent. A frosted window is translucent. And the curtains in front of the window are opaque. They don't really have anything to do with color per se, except that things that are transparent are usually clear, and something black can't really be transluscent.

in a transparent medium , light travels through it without any scattering. while in translucent medium the light passes through it with some disturbances.some amount of light is being scattered.
simple difference is-you can look through a transparent medium while it is difficult to look through a translucent medium.

Transparent is having the property of transmitting rays of light through its substance so that bodies situated beyond or behind can be distinctly seen and Translucent is permitting light to pass through but diffusing it so that persons, objects, etc., on the opposite side are not clearly visible. It would be the difference of distinctly seen and not clearly visible.

Take a look at the etymologies:
Transparent: from Medieval Latin transparent-, transparens, present participle of transparēre to show through, from Latin trans- + parēre to show oneself
Translucent: Latin translucent-, translucens, present participle of translucēre to shine through, from trans- + lucēre to shine
Clearly, "transparent" is something you can see through and "translucent" is something that light passes through.

Translucent is semi-transparent, partly clear. Transparent is fully clear (you can see through that). Of course, no physical material (even the best glass) is not 100% transparent, and there is a slight loss of light intensity.

Transparent can easily be seen through, such as glass or water. Translucent substances can't, however, some light still passes through like fog, such as... err... fog, quartz
