Not at all. I think you made it up.

No. I think that you're making this whole thing up. I googled it and the only thing I found was petitions against the non existent war on Christmas.

Edit-- John R you hit the nail on the head. I'd give you two thumbs up if I could. You deserve the ten points for this one. That song should be banned but not because it's politically incorrect but because it's so annoying. Since I believe in free speech I wouldn't even want to ban an annoying greedy song like that.

Proof that no urban myth is ever to old to get a face lift. These types of stories have been circulating on the internet for decades. The lastest variation comes from the hysteria caused by Walmart trying to increase thier sales by changing their advertising for a brief time to only mention holidays in their advertising instead of Christmas so that they would not offend non-christians.

The beginning of the petition myth was in December of 1974 when the FCC was petitioned concerning the use of time that was mandated to be educational time on the air waves by the FCC not become just Christian education. That petition was actually defeated in August 1975. This is the law that brought us Conjunction Junction what's your function.

Since the defeat, the FCC has received over 30 million peices of mail concerned that various pieces or all religious programming be taken off of the air waves.

Somebody has found it either valuable or funny to perpetuate the myth that there is an ongoing petition for the last 32 years.

You'll have to provide some source for this. Otherwise, it would probably be an urban legend. Who are we petitioning? Is the federal government banning it?

And I love the assumption that it is the left trying to ban it, not the religious right. Think about the lyrics for a moment. Doesn't it really boil down to "We won't leave, won't stop this very repetitive song, until you give us stuff"? Seems to be about all the non-religious aspects of Christmas to me.

What's politically incorrect about it? It doesn't even mention Baby Jesus! For that reason, you'd think that it would be the Taliban Christians who would want it (and other such songs) banned.

Yes, I have heard of this.

Okay, if they want to do that, then they'd better ban Halloween and costumes. Ban Easter and egg hunts, etc. The ant-god people are always finding some way to change the freedoms of America. If it wasn't for our Christian beliefs, they wouldn't even have Christmas day to enjoy and all the fun. So of course, once again, they want to take a Christian holiday and put a secular twist on it or completely steal it. No matter, if they take it, I will personally make sure I tell everyone Merry Christmas and sing the song as a carol just to make sure they know they're not taking it from me. Go make your own holiday, I say. Don't take mine. This is America.

You'll have to excuse me if I can't take this claim seriously without a lot more details. Proof would be helpful as well.
