The TV show, that is... Was it cancelled? who decided to end it?

I always thought that it ended, like all shows eventually do, but it wasn't cancelled as such...

I'm not sure, they all probably wanted to move on. And, Monica/Courteney Cox was pregnant and they couldn't fit that into the plot.

I wish they hadnt canceled it!! I loved that show!!

I seriously doubt it.

The characters and their respective story lines eventually reached their natural conclusion.

Monica and Chandler, for example, adopted twins and decided to leave their Manhattan apartment and buy a house in Westchester to raise their kids in.

Ross and Rachel finally got back together with their baby daughter Emma.

Phoebe married her boyfriend Mike.

Which leaves Joey... with nothing much to do! Nothing new there eh?

And don't forget: Monica and Rachel's apartment was one of the main focal points of it all (not to mention the Central Perk Coffee House, of course!).

Where could they go from there?

They all settled down, as anyone in their mid-thirties would, and went their separate ways, so to speak...

A beautiful yet bittersweet ending for everyone!

It wasn't cancelled. The cast's members wanted to do other projects which they couldn't if the show was still in production, so they agreed to end the show, thus enabling the writers to end it gracefully and in good taste. It also left reunion shows and movies as options in the future.

not cancelled, but the cast wanted to do other things and since a few have good movie careers and families it was best to go out while still on top. we had ten great years and it ended very nicely w/ross and rachel ending up together.

Yes, the "Friends" programming has been cancelled. I am going to order the entire composite of DVDs from amazon.com. This way, the parts that I missed, won't be lost.
