Do I need to buy some sort of DVI connector to connect the monitor to my MacBook?

It says PC and Mac compatible on the specs

That monitor includes "DVI-D and D-sub inputs" so it will work with your MAC perfectly. Your MAC has a DVI-D port built-in.

Yep you'll need a DVI cable to connect from your Macbook to the monitor - I'm in NZ and these cables are around $5

Your MacBook has a mini-DVI video out port that allows you to connect an external display or projector using a mini-DVI adapter.
